Water Quality

Water quality classification is elevated. Monitoring is conducted according to European Directive 91/271/CE standards. Thirteen urban wastewater treatment plants with capacity exceeding 2000 population equivalents operate in the municipality of Latina. No specific monitoring of pollutant concentrations is currently active during the bathing season.

Risks

Shellfish aquaculture is identified as a source of pollution. Short-duration pollution events are still under study regarding adequate modelling approaches. No anomalous situations have been verified.
