Location

Pomezia, Rome Province, Lazio region. The bathing area is positioned between Pratica di Mare and Rio Torto.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated. Three urban wastewater treatment plants serving populations greater than 2000 inhabitants equivalent are active in the municipality. No specific monitoring programmes for tracking pollutant concentrations were active at the time of the profile. Mollusk farming is identified as a pollution source.

Risks

Nearby presence of ditches and mouth areas. Significant urbanised area in proximity. Short-duration pollution events are under study for adequate modelling approach. The area is not subject to blooms of macroalgae and/or potentially toxic microalgae.
