Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated. Quality monitoring was conducted and classified according to the 95th and 90th percentile values. No specific monitoring of pollutant concentrations is currently active during the bathing season. Three urban wastewater treatment plants are operational in the municipality serving populations over 2000 equivalent inhabitants.

Risks

Shellfish farming activities identified as a source of pollution. Short-duration pollution events may occur; an appropriate modeling approach is still under study. The area is not subject to toxic macroalgal or microalgal blooms.
