A sandy beach located at the southern periphery of the Villa Rosa district in Martinsicuro, directly bordering the Vibrata River. The beach has a gently sloping emerged and submerged profile with an average width of approximately 45 metres and extends for about 450 metres. It experiences an estimated 900 daily bathers during peak season. The water is classified as Excellent quality. The beach is situated in a peripheral zone with fewer services compared to central beaches.

Water

Coastal waters of the Vibrata River estuary, Mediterranean Sea. The bathing area extends for 0.450 kilometres.

Location

Martinsicuro, Teramo Province, Abruzzo Region, Italy. Located at the southern periphery of Villa Rosa district, directly adjacent to the Vibrata River mouth. Parking is available.

Facilities

Lifeguard and first aid services; public toilet facilities and toilets within commercial activities; disabled access facilities; parking; bicycle and pedestrian paths; boat storage; hotel; restaurants and bars. Some beach establishments rent skates and canoes to customers.

Season

Annual monitoring from April to September.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Monitoring is conducted annually by ARTA Teramo from April to September. Wastewater treatment was previously managed by a consortial purification plant at Villa Rosa. Since July 2022, effluent is treated at a new treatment facility in Casa Santa, Alba Adriatica. The treatment plant at Villa Rosa ceased operations and was closed.

Risks

Vibrata River mouth identified as a potential pollution source. Cyanobacteria blooms have not occurred in marine waters in this area. Scarce algal blooms occur in summer months; past years have recorded sparse dinoflagellate blooms with little or no toxic species presence.
