Ammersee lake. The water body has been regularly sampled in the Schondorf area at Cafe Forster for decades.

Location

Schondorf am Ammersee, at Point 2 on the extended beach promenade of Schondorf.

Season

Monitoring conducted from late April through early September 2025.

Water Quality

Water quality monitoring results from 2025 show all samples classified as bacteriologically unobjectionable. Enterococcus levels ranged from <10 to 21 MPN/100ml. Escherichia coli levels ranged from <10 to 53 MPN/100ml. Water temperatures ranged from 14°C to 23°C across sampling dates.

Risks

Short-term impairments to water quality from extreme heavy rainfall events are possible, including potential opening of combined sewer overflows. A high number of water birds in this area can lead to certain contamination with faecal input. Water birds should not be fed.
