Arziglia is a sandy beach bathing area located in Bordighera, Liguria, in the Imperia province. The beach is characterized by small sandy stretches interspersed along the eastern side of a tourist harbour. The water body is classified as coastal waters with mountain relief and low stability. The bathing area achieved an excellent water quality classification during 2008–2011.

Coastal water body. Area: 1.167 square kilometres. The water body drains into the Sasso River and Rio Lunassa basin.

Location

Bordighera, Imperia province, Liguria region. The beach is positioned on the eastern side of a tourist harbour. Contact: Municipality of Bordighera, via XX Settembre 32, telephone 01842721.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). No coastal wastewater treatment plants or Imhoff tanks are present. Pollution sources identified include the harbour and river mouth.

Risks

Short-term pollution events may occur from the harbour and river mouth. No cases of potentially toxic algal bloom proliferation have been recorded. The Ligurian Sea is not characterised by cyanobacterial blooms due to oligotrophic conditions.
