Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008-2011). No coastal treatment plants or Imhoff tanks are present. The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to oligotrophic conditions. No potentially toxic algal strains have been recorded.

Risks

River mouth (foce fluviale) identified as a source of pollution impact. Modeling approach for short-duration pollution events and anomalous situations is under development.
