Bade- und Paddelteich Kothen is a bathing and paddling pond located in the Bavarian Rhön region, in the wide valley basin of the small Sinn river. The pond is privately operated by the Hain family at the Rhönperle camping site on the northern edge of Kothen. The water is fed by underground springs and the course of the small Sinn stream.

Pond with a surface area of 5,000 m² and average depth of approximately 1.5 metres. Fed by underground springs and the small Sinn stream.

Location

Kothen, Motten, Bavaria. Address: Zum Schmelzhof 36, 97786 Motten-Kothen. Coordinates: 50° 22' 28'' N, 09° 46' 18'' E. Located at the northern exit of the village at the Rhönperle camping site.

Season

Monitoring conducted year-round; data shown from April 2024 through September 2025.

Water Quality

Designated as an official bathing water according to current EU regulations. Monitoring and management follow the Bavarian Bathing Water Ordinance (BayBadeGewV) from 15 February 2008. Regular monitoring by the health authority includes site inspections and water samples tested for pathogens. All monitoring results from April 2024 to September 2025 show no objections (Ohne Beanstandung). Enterococci levels ranged from <10 to 53 MPN per 100 ml; Escherichia coli levels ranged from <10 to 195 MPN per 100 ml.
