Water Quality

Water quality progressively degrades from east to west, potentially corresponding to bacterial plumes conveyed via maritime pathways.

Risks

Green algae stranding events occur. Cyanobacteria blooms at Pont Rolland reservoir during summer months pose potential contamination risk from released toxins in saline environment. Animal access to beaches (dogs and horses) creates pollution risk from animal feces. Stormwater network deficiencies on Morieux commune with risk of overflow due to network bottlenecks. Treatment plant at Morieux regularly experiences hydraulic and organic overload. Multiple defective individual sanitation systems identified (13 on Hillion commune, 5 on Morieux commune). Defective wastewater connections (35 among 287 inspected habitations on Morieux commune).
