Water Quality

Water quality classified according to Decree-Law 135/09 (as amended by Decree-Law 113/2012). No history of short-term pollution episodes. Zero days of bathing restrictions due to short-term pollution in the 2024 bathing season. Sampling frequency: once every two weeks.

Risks

Diffuse sources of fecal contamination from urban activities, solid waste from beach activities, bird colonies, and high user numbers. Likely potential for cyanobacteria proliferation and phytoplankton proliferation. Less likely potential for macroalgae proliferation.
