Water Quality

Water quality classification according to Decreto-Lei 135/09 of June 3rd, amended by Decreto-Lei nº 113/2012 of May 23rd. No short-term pollution episodes occurred during the bathing season. Zero days of bathing restriction due to short-term pollution in the 2024 bathing season. Potential microbiological pollution sources include diffuse fecal contamination from urban activities, solid waste from beach activities, marine litter, bird colonies, and high number of users.

Risks

Potential for phytoplankton proliferation is likely. Potential for cyanobacteria and macroalgae proliferation is less likely.
