Billdal is a seaside bathing area with a small sandy beach and a fixed pier. Shallow soft bottoms attract many resting birds including whooper swans, greenshanks, and great black-backed gulls. Extensive eelgrass meadows occur further into the bay, providing important nursery and feeding grounds for fish species and stabilizing soft bottoms while improving water clarity. The eelgrass meadows support rich fauna including sea hares, eelgrass roses, and starfish.
