Blaustein-See is an artificial lake created from a former open-pit lignite mine. The bathing area has a 110-metre shoreline with an elevation of 127 metres above sea level. The lake covers 94 hectares with a maximum depth of 41.5 metres. Water temperature ranges from 13 to 23.3 degrees Celsius, with an average of 19.2 degrees Celsius. The lake has been designated as an EU bathing water since 2009 and has achieved excellent water quality ratings for four consecutive years from 2019 to 2022.
