Water

Coastal marine bathing area on the English Channel (Atlantic coast). The site experiences tidal currents with distinct flood and ebb patterns. Wave orientation and wind direction data are documented. The beach includes shallow water areas suitable for wading and foot fishing.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored for E. coli and enterococci concentrations. Historical data from 2014–2020 shows variation in the 95th percentile values. Water quality classifications are tracked by French health authorities (ARS). The Seulles River outlet and a wastewater treatment plant discharge influence water quality. Shellfish harvesting areas are classified under IFREMER sanitary standards.

Risks

Algal wash-ups (échouages d'algues) can occur and influence water quality results. Contamination episodes are linked to rainfall, tidal coefficients, wind conditions, and seasonal variations. Wastewater network discharge and the Seulles River are identified pollution sources.
