15 June to 15 September 2025. Sampling frequency: 1 sample per week.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2024 follows Decreto-Lei 135/09 amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012. Salmonella was detected during 2024 bathing season analyses by the Health Authority, resulting in bathing prohibition during the pollution episode on 15 July 2024. Bathing was advised against or prohibited for 4 days during 2024 due to short-term pollution events. Potential microbiological pollution sources include diffuse sources upstream from agricultural, forestry, and urban activities, solid waste from beach activities, and flora and fauna.
