Camping La Playa is a bathing water area located in the municipality of Stignano in the Calabria region of southern Italy. The beach features a sandy-pebbly composition with sediment granulometry ranging from 0.18 to 2 mm. The area is classified as excellent quality for bathing. The beach is situated in front of agricultural territories north of the inhabited centre of Caulonia.

Coastal water body. The area extends 1.431 hectares. The beach is sandy-pebbly with geomorphological characteristics of a plain and alluvial fan coast.

Location

Municipality of Stignano, Reggio Calabria province, Calabria region. The bathing area is located north of the inhabited centre of Caulonia, in front of agricultural territories.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The bathing water body is Caulonia - Riace. Identified pollution sources include the mouth of Vallone Favaco and short-duration pollution events from agricultural runoff from surrounding agricultural areas.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events may occur from runoff (dilavamento) from adjacent agricultural areas via the Vallone Favaco outlet. No anomalous situations or algal proliferation events were verified in the preceding four years.
