Residence Paola is an excellent quality bathing water located in Riace, Calabria. The beach features a sandy-pebbly shore with a articulated coastal geomorphology. The seafloor slopes gently at an average of 1.8% from the waterline to the 5-meter isobat, with isolated underwater bars and ridges. Sediment grain size ranges from 0.062 to 0.09 mm.

Location

Riace, Province of Reggio Calabria, Calabria region. The bathing area extends between the mouth of Fosso S. Romano and the mouth of Fosso Turchi I, facing agricultural and forested territories.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent. No specific active mitigation measures are currently in place. The sea and inland waters show no algal blooms or cyanobacteria in the previous four years.

Risks

Short-term pollution events associated with runoff from agricultural areas may occur via Fosso S. Romano. No anomalous situations have been verified. No algal blooms or cyanobacteria proliferation has occurred in the previous four years.
