Lesina Lagoon is a transition water body located in the municipality of Lesina, in the province of Foggia, Puglia. The bathing area extends 0.842 square kilometres along the western shore to La Punta. The beach is sandy and classified as Excellent based on water quality assessments from 2017–2020. No short-term pollution events have been recorded in the last four years.

Location

Municipality of Lesina, province of Foggia, Puglia region. The bathing water extends from the western shore of Laguna di Lesina to the locality La Punta, specifically at Canal Cammarata Elce 30 metres downstream on the right bank.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). Potential pollution source identified at the mouth of Canale Cammarata Elce, where the sewage treatment plant for Lesina discharges. No direct sewage discharges to the sea are present. No cyanobacteria or potentially toxic algal blooms have been detected.

Risks

The mouth of Canale Cammarata Elce represents a potential pollution source due to the discharge point of Lesina's sewage treatment facility. No short-term pollution events or anomalous situations have been recorded in the last four years.
