Location

Policoro, Province of Matera, Basilicata region. The sampling point is positioned 50 metres north of the Canale Scolmatore canal at coordinates 40.164363 -16.699884. The bathing area boundary extends from 40.161660 -16.697725 to 40.166692 -16.701018.

Season

Official bathing season: 1 May to 30 September. Monitoring period: 1 April to 30 September. Monthly sampling frequency. No bathing bans were in effect during the 2020 bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on monitoring period 2017–2020. A non-bathing zone exists at the discharge point of Canale Vena della Serpe–Canale Scolmatore, extending 40 metres from the outlet axis.

Risks

Discharge from Canale Vena della Serpe–Canale Scolmatore canal creates a designated non-bathing zone.
