Idrovora del Concio is a sandy beach bathing area located in Policoro, in the Basilicata region. The beach is characterized by sandy shores with forested areas and semi-natural environments surrounding it. The area received the Blue Flag international recognition in 2018. The bathing water monitoring point is positioned 50 meters north of the Concio water pump station in a zone frequented by swimmers.

Location

Policoro, province of Matera, Basilicata region. The bathing area is located 50 meters north of the Idrovora del Concio pump station at coordinates 40.173882 -16.706664. The bathing area boundary extends from 40.171680 -16.704512 to 40.176483 -16.708523.

Season

Monitoring period: 1 April – 30 September. Official bathing season: 1 May – 30 September. No bathing prohibitions during the 2020 bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification period: 2017–2020. Monthly sampling frequency conducted during the monitoring season. Blue Flag international recognition awarded in 2018.

Risks

Non-bathing zone present: Concio pump station discharge (Consorzio di Bonifica), extending 40 meters in width from the discharge outlet.
