The Caton and Pavillon beaches are located on the eastern shore of Lake Cazaux-Sanguinet in Sanguinet, Landes department, France. The Caton beach measures 310 metres long and 23 metres wide with a sandy surface and average depth of 45 centimetres. The Pavillon beach is smaller at 94 metres long and 31 metres wide, also sandy with an average depth of 55 centimetres. Both beaches feature natural emergent vegetation and serve as recreational bathing areas with water circulation flowing east to west.

Lake Cazaux-Sanguinet is a coastal lagoon with a surface area of 1490 square kilometres forming part of a SAGE (Schéma d'aménagement et de gestion des eaux) established in 2008. The lake is linked hydraulically to three other lakes by canals and currents managed by five structures. Caton beach zone has a mean depth of 45 centimetres and maximum depth of 150 centimetres. Pavillon beach has a mean depth of 55 centimetres and maximum depth of 85 centimetres.

Location

Sanguinet is located 17 kilometres southwest of Gujan-Mestras in the Landes department of southwestern France. The Caton beach is accessed via the Caton road, a cycle path, or pedestrian trails with parking available. The Pavillon beach is accessed via Avenue de Losa or by boat, with a small car park along the avenue and camping car parking nearby.
