Cerano is a sandy beach bathing area located in the Brindisi province of Puglia, southern Italy. The water body extends over 0.373 km². The bathing water has been classified as excellent for the period 2017–2020. No short-term pollution events have been recorded in the last four years, and no toxic algae blooms have been detected.

Coastal marine water body (Cerano-Le Cesine) with an area of 0.373 km². Sandy beach.

Location

Cerano, Brindisi province, Puglia region, Italy. The bathing area is situated 500 metres south of the central area, at the boundary near the ENEL Federico II thermoelectric power station.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). No direct wastewater discharges to sea are present. Potential pollution sources identified: discharge from the ENEL Federico II thermoelectric power station at Cerano and the mouth of the Li Siedi Canal at the northern boundary.

Risks

The discharge from the ENEL Federico II thermoelectric power station and the mouth of the Li Siedi Canal are identified as potential sources of pollution. However, no cyanobacterial blooms have been detected, and no toxic algal species have been recorded. No short-term pollution events were recorded in the last four years.
