Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). The bathing area is subject to treated wastewater discharge from a treatment plant with submarine outfall receiving effluent from civil and industrial settlements. No short-duration pollution events have been recorded in the past four years. No blooms of potentially toxic algae or cyanobacteria have been identified.

Risks

The area is strongly industrialized and urbanized due to the presence of Modugno industrial zone and Bari port. Treated urban wastewater discharge is the identified source of pollution.
