A sandy beach with fine sand and a gradual 3% slope, both on emerged and submerged portions, protected by artificial rock breakwaters. The beach is located in a densely urbanized area with an urban settlement surrounding it. Average beach width is 40 metres. The distance between medium-low and high water (safe water limit) is approximately 80 metres, with astronomical tidal range of 30–50 centimetres.

Water

The receiving water body is the Tronto River, Tronto River basin. The bathing area extends 0.95818 hectares. Beach slope is 3% on both emerged and submerged portions. Astronomical tidal range is 30–50 centimetres.

Beach establishment with refreshment point and sanitary facilities. Animals are permitted access.

Water Quality

Classification: E. Water quality classification is Category C. Wastewater treatment: the area is served by a mixed public sewer system connected to a treatment plant located in Porto d'Ascoli, via Brodolini 8. The plant uses activated sludge technology with design capacity of 180,000 equivalent inhabitants and current capacity of 100,000 equivalent inhabitants. The mixed sewer also carries industrial effluent equivalent to 40,000 inhabitants. In 2006–2007, the treatment plant showed good efficiency with COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters always compliant. Microbiological controls in 2008, 2009, and 2010 were compliant.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events: accidental failures and overflow from two lift stations located at viale Marconi and La Siesta (first and second locations). No cyanobacterial proliferation reported. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation reported.
