Davanti Fosso dell'Albero is a bathing beach in Porto Sant'Elpidio, Marche region, with gravel and sand composition. The beach has a gentle slope of 3% extending both above and below water level, protected by artificial rocky barriers. The beach width averages 20 metres, with approximately 80 metres between medium-low and high water marks. The surrounding area is densely urbanised with railway infrastructure and a mooring area for recreational boats.

Coastal bathing water (Civitanova_Porto San Giorgio water body). Beach area: 1.1553 hectares. Tidal range: 30–50 cm astronomical tide.

Facilities

Bathing establishment (stabilimento balneare) with refreshment point and sanitary facilities. Animals prohibited on free beach; allowed on concession areas at concessionaire discretion. Two mooring areas for recreational boaters: one adjacent to Fosso dell'Albero on north and south sides, another approximately 370 metres south.

Water Quality

2015: Excellent class (E. coli 95th percentile 132.2 CFU/100 ml, Enterococci 95th percentile 43.6 CFU/100 ml). 2016: Good class (E. coli 95th percentile 312.6 CFU/100 ml, Enterococci 95th percentile 79.4 CFU/100 ml). 2017: Sufficient class (E. coli 90th percentile 408.3 CFU/100 ml, Enterococci 90th percentile 112.3 CFU/100 ml). 2018: Sufficient class (E. coli 90th percentile 406.0 CFU/100 ml, Enterococci 90th percentile 132.4 CFU/100 ml). Wastewater treatment via mixed public sewerage system connected to biological activated sludge facility at Via Mazzini 372, Faleriense, serving 33,000 inhabitants in winter and 38,000 in summer. Treated discharge into Tenna river. Five overflow outlets discharge partially treated urban wastewater directly to sea.

Risks

Five overflow outlets (scolmatori) discharge untreated sewage during heavy rainfall or treatment plant malfunction. Fosso dell'Albero stream and seven inland overflow outlets converge in the bathing area. Water quality influenced by rainfall runoff from Fosso Serpe stream mouth and direct discharge of partially treated urban wastewater. Short-term pollution events caused by treatment plant malfunctions and heavy precipitation.
