Davanti Fosso del Palo is a bathing beach in Porto Sant'Elpidio, Marche region, characterized by gravel and sand with a gentle average slope of 3%. The beach is protected by artificial submerged breakwaters. The distance between medium-low and high water (safe water limit) is approximately 80 meters, with astronomical tides ranging from 30 to 50 centimeters. Marine bathing water. Beach width averages 20 meters. The water body is Civitanova_Porto San Giorgio. A submerged reef was recently constructed. Astronomical tide range is 30–50 centimeters.

Location

Porto Sant'Elpidio, Marche region, province of Fermo, Italy. The competent authority is the Municipality of Porto Sant'Elpidio, Via Umberto I° 485, 63821.

Facilities

Beach stabilimento (bathing establishment) with refreshment point and toilet services. Animals are permitted access to the area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: E (poorest classification). The area is served by mixed public sewerage connected to a wastewater treatment plant located at Via Mazzini n. 372 in Faleriense, Porto Sant'Elpidio. The plant is a biological activated sludge treatment facility with a design capacity of 48,000 inhabitant equivalents (a.e.). Current treatment levels are 33,000 a.e. in winter and 38,000 a.e. in summer. The receiving water body is the Tenna river. Microbiological controls in 2008, 2009, and 2010 showed good plant efficiency and conforming results.

Risks

The Fosso del Palo creek receives a combined sewer overflow at its final section. Short-term pollution events are possible due to accidental failures and overflows from combined sewers.
