The bathing water at Davanti Fosso Fonteserpe is a beach with gravel and sand featuring a gentle slope of 3% both above and below the waterline. It is protected by artificial cliff barriers and situated in a densely urbanized area with a railway line passing through the surrounding zone. The distance between mean low water and high water (safe water limit) is approximately 80 metres, with an astronomical tidal range of 30 to 50 centimetres.

Porto Sant'Elpidio, Fermo Province, Marche Region. The beach has an average width of 20 metres.

Beach establishment with food service and hygiene facilities. Animals are prohibited on public beach areas.

Water Quality

2015: Excellent classification with E. coli 95th percentile 161.6 CFU/100ml and intestinal enterococci 95th percentile 93.7 CFU/100ml. 2016: Good classification with E. coli 95th percentile 260.5 CFU/100ml and intestinal enterococci 95th percentile 114.2 CFU/100ml. 2017: Good classification with E. coli 95th percentile 308.2 CFU/100ml and intestinal enterococci 95th percentile 127.6 CFU/100ml. 2018: Good classification with E. coli 95th percentile 283.2 CFU/100ml and intestinal enterococci 95th percentile 123.9 CFU/100ml. The bathing water is influenced by meteorological inputs from the Fosso Serpe estuary and direct discharge into the sea of partially treated urban wastewater from 5 combined sewer overflows.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events can result from accidental malfunctions of wastewater treatment plants and heavy rainfall. Three combined sewer overflow outlets are present in the northern section near the railway station, with one outlet approximately 565 metres north. Two combined sewer overflow outlets are in the southern section, with one outlet approximately 507 metres south.
