Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008-2011). The Ligurian Sea is characterized by oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal blooms have been recorded.

Risks

The area is influenced by the Sanremo wastewater treatment plant and its sea outlet, as well as nearby port activities. Cyanobacterial blooms do not occur due to oligotrophic conditions. No potentially toxic algal species proliferation has been documented.
