Water

Valbona Reservoir on the Valbona River. Surface area of 12.5 hectares, volume of 0.4 cubic hectometers, maximum water level of 978.5 meters. The reservoir substrate consists of conglomerates, sandstones, and shales. The riverbed alternates between fine clays, gravels, and rounded stones.

Location

Valbona municipality in Teruel province, Aragón. Access from Valbona via the church crossing toward the Valbona Reservoir, marked by signs, along the GR8 trail. Once reaching the dam, a parking area is available; the bathing zone is accessed via an asphalt road to the left of the picnic area.

Facilities

Parking available. Picnic areas present. Waste collection and waste containers available. Informational signs present. No lifeguards, no toilets, no showers, no bar or snack bar, no dock, no recreational facilities for animals.

Water quality classification available at http://nayadeciudadano.sanidad.gob.es/ according to Royal Decree 1341/2007. Identified risks include self-contamination from bathers, runoff from extensive livestock farming (65 cattle, 97 sheep, 4 goats, 900 pigs), and runoff from crops and meadows treated with manure.
