Coastal waters. The designated water body is Belcastro - Cutro. The monitored area extends 1.268 square kilometres. Seabed slope averages 1.4% from the waterline to the 5-metre isobath.

Location

Cutro, in the province of Crotone, Calabria. The bathing area is situated in front of the inhabited centre of Steccato. Beach width and exact directions are not specified. Disabled access is available via stone slabs across the beach.

Stone slabs for beach crossing to assist disabled access. Animals are permitted in the area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent. The primary identified pollution source is the mouth of Fosso Steccato III (a small stream). No specific active mitigation measures are currently in place.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events from surface runoff (dilavamento) originating from urban areas are possible. Cyanobacterial proliferation has not occurred in the past four years. Macroalgae, phytoplankton, and potentially toxic species proliferation have not been detected.
