Lido del Sole 1 is a sandy beach located in Cutro, Calabria, situated in a coastal area facing agricultural zones east of the Steccato di Cutro locality. The beach has a narrow coastline geomorphology with a sandy substrate. The seafloor slopes gently from the waterline to the 5-meter isobath at an average gradient of 1.4%. Beach sediment grain size ranges from 0.13 to 2 millimetres.

Coastal water body of the Belcastro–Cutro water body. Sandy beach with average seafloor slope of 1.4% from the waterline to the 5-meter isobath. Sediment grain size ranges from 0.13 to 2 millimetres. Beach area extends 1.543 square kilometres.

Location

Cutro, Calabria, in the Province of Crotone. The beach is located in an area facing agricultural zones east of the Steccato di Cutro locality.

Facilities

Accessible beach crossing structures for disabled persons. Animals are permitted on the beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent. The monitoring period includes the data updated in December. The Vallone del Dragone watercourse is identified as a pollution source in the immediate vicinity.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events occur due to surface runoff from agricultural areas. The Vallone del Dragone watercourse mouth is located near the beach. Cyanobacteria proliferation has not been documented in the past four years. Macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation has not been documented in the past four years.
