Face RD 483 is a bathing beach located in the commune of Saint-Jean-le-Thomas. The beach is monitored for water quality and is subject to closure procedures following significant precipitation or sanitation system malfunctions. The site experiences tidal and current influences characteristic of the Mont Saint-Michel Bay area.

Saint-Jean-le-Thomas commune, along Road RD 483.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored according to Directive 2006/7/CEE. Fecal indicator germs are tracked. Historical sanitary controls have been conducted since at least 2013.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include: domestic wastewater from collective and non-collective sanitation systems, stormwater runoff, agricultural activities (livestock grazing), coastal discharges, camping and mobile home facilities, tourism activities at Bec d'Andaine, presence of animals on the intertidal zone, and remobilization of muddy sediments. Beach closure procedures are applied following significant precipitation or sanitation system failures.
