Faro is a rocky bathing water located in San Giovanni a Piro in the Salerno Province of Campania. The area features high, rocky and jagged coastline characteristic of the Cilento headlands. There is moderate urbanisation in the surrounding area, with the port of Scario located to the south. The bathing water has been classified as Excellent for the years 2020–2023.

Location

San Giovanni a Piro, Salerno Province, Campania. The monitoring point is located near the Cilento promontories along the coast.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) according to Legislative Decree 116 of 30 May 2008.

Risks

Possible pollution sources identified: the breakwater mole root on the east side of Scario port, and potential ruptures in the submarine pipeline from the settling tank located in Scario Piazza Giardino fraction.
