Foce Cavone is a bathing area in Pisticci, Basilicata, located 150 metres north of the mouth of the Cavone River. The beach zone extends from the Cavone River to the Basento River. The area is part of the Lido del Comune di Pisticci and is backed by the Pineta pine forest and state-owned land.

Location

Pisticci, Province of Matera, Basilicata. The sampling point is located 150 metres north of the Cavone River mouth. The bathing area extends between coordinates 40.287888 -16.777462 and 40.294444 -16.781688.

Season

1 May to 30 September

Water Quality

Monitoring period: 1 April to 30 September. Sampling frequency: monthly. Classification period: 2017–2020. No bathing prohibitions were in place during the 2020 bathing season.

Risks

The mouth of the Cavone River (Foce Fiume Cavone) and a 150-metre northern margin with a 100-metre-wide zone extending from the river discharge are designated non-bathing areas.
