The Foce Rio S. Lorenzo is a bathing area located at the mouth of the San Lorenzo stream in the urban centre of San Lorenzo al Mare in Liguria, Italy. The bathing zone is situated between two embankments in a river mouth location. The area is classified as excellent quality based on monitoring from 2008–2011. No cyanobacterial blooms or toxic algal proliferation has been recorded in the Ligurian Sea due to its oligotrophic conditions.

Coastal waters at the mouth of the San Lorenzo stream (Torrente San Lorenzo). Area of 0.185 square kilometres. Classified as montane lowlands with low stability (CWA3).

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). An emergency discharge pipe is located at the mouth of the San Lorenzo stream. Evaluation of short-duration pollution events and anomalous situations is being developed through a modelling approach.

Risks

River mouth location with emergency discharge pipe. Cyanobacterial bloom potential is low due to oligotrophic conditions in the Ligurian Sea. No toxic algal proliferation has been recorded in the past four years.
