Water Quality

Water quality classification: ECCELLENTE (Excellent) for the period 2008-2011. No coastal wastewater treatment plants, sand traps, or Imhoff tanks are present in the area. Cyanobacterial bloom potential is low due to oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded in the past four years.

Risks

The Ligurian Sea does not experience cyanobacterial blooms due to its preponderantly oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal proliferation have been documented.
