Water Quality

Water quality classified as Good for the period 2010–2013. Identified sources of pollution include wastewater treatment plant at Borghetto Santo Spirito (Pattarello location) with active marine outfall pipe, and the river mouth itself.

Risks

The Ligurian Sea is not characterised by cyanobacterial blooms due to predominantly oligotrophic conditions. No cases of toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded in the past four years.
