Fornaci - Lentiscella is a pebble beach bathing area located in Camerota, in the Cilento region of southern Italy. The area features high rocky coastline interspersed with ravines and coves, surrounded by moderate urbanisation and agricultural zones. A port facility is situated to the north of this bathing area. The beach is equipped with tourist structures.

Coastal bathing water of the Tyrrhenian Sea with a pebble beach, bordered by high rocky promontories typical of the Cilento coastline.

Location

Camerota, province of Salerno, Campania region, Italy. The monitoring point is located at coordinates 39.99890° N, 15.36910° E.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (based on monitoring results from 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023). Identified pollution sources include: wastewater from Capoluogo fraction discharged directly into Vallone Delle Fornaci; wastewater from Lentiscosa fraction discharged into Cerasia and Palazzi ravines; additional municipal wastewater treated in sedimentation tanks at Calanca locality with submarine outfall; and further municipal wastewater conveyed directly into a submarine pipeline at the west side of the port breakwater in Marina di Camerota.

Risks

Possible pollution sources identified include the west side root of the port breakwater at Marina di Camerota; potential ruptures in the submarine pipeline originating from the breakwater at Marina di Camerota; and the Vallone Delle Fornaci on the east side.
