Gamensee is a lake located approximately 20 kilometres north-east of Berlin near Tiefensee. It is the largest and most southerly lake in a series embedded in the Gamengrund, an ice-age channel formed during the last glaciation. The lake is approximately 2 kilometres long, 130 metres wide, and reaches a maximum depth of 8 metres. It has steep shores with minimal reed beds but substantial underwater vegetation, and is known to support pike, eels, bass, carp, and tench. The lake offers good water quality and serves as a popular recreation destination for visitors from eastern Berlin.
