Coastal water body. The submarine beach sediments range from 0.18 to 2 mm in granulometry. The beach is characterised by a terraced coastline with sandy-pebbly composition.

Location

Scilla, Reggio Calabria province, Calabria region. The bathing area is located in front of the Favazzina town centre, in the Bagnara – Villa San Giovanni water body.

Facilities

Showers and access walkways to the sea are available. Animals are permitted in the area.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The Favazzina Stream (Fiumara Favazzina) is identified as a potential pollution source. No specific pollution control measures are currently in place.

Risks

Short-term pollution events can occur from urban runoff in the urban areas upstream. Anomalous situations and algal proliferation have not been verified in the past four years.
