Grande Grève is a bathing beach in Roscoff, Brittany, France. It is one of four officially recognized bathing waters in the commune. The beach is subject to regular microbiological monitoring and classification of water quality according to national regulations. The beach profile was revised in July 2022.

Coastal beach bathing water with permanent surface water outflow and tidal currents influenced by spring and neap tides.

Water Quality

Microbiological monitoring conducted by the regional health authority (ARS) measures concentrations of enterococci and E. coli. Data from 2011–2021 show evolution of bacterial contamination. The 95th percentile concentrations are tracked over multi-year periods.

Risks

The beach is sensitive to green algae beachings (ulves). Potential pollution sources include permanent surface water discharge, stormwater outfalls, accidental overflow from a wastewater lifting station, agricultural activities, and a leisure port. Medusae have been observed.
