Großer See near Hohengüstow, also called Großer Jankesee, is located in northeastern Brandenburg southeast of Prenzlau in the Uckermark Hills. It is part of the Hohengüstow-Lützlow lake chain, designated as a Natura 2000 European protection area. The lake is classified as a near-natural eutrophic water body with typical submerged macrophyte flora and natural shore vegetation zones. The elongated basin has steep shores with a maximum depth exceeding 22 metres. The lake is fed by groundwater with no surface inflows or outflows.
