Heddesheim is an attractive residential community in the immediate vicinity of the metropolitan areas of Mannheim and Heidelberg with high recreational value. Most of the lake is designed with landscape and ecological considerations in mind and serves not only as a recreation area for residents, but also as a refuge for native fauna and flora. For environmental protection reasons, boat rentals and excursion restaurants have been avoided, so the entire lake grounds fit harmoniously into the landscape. The bathing lake covers 200,000 square meters of water surface and is partly integrated with an outdoor swimming pool featuring a heated non-swimmer basin and a heated paddling pool. The sunbathing area covers approximately 50,000 square meters. Two bathing islands are installed in the bathing lake for visitors. For sports activities outside the water, table tennis tables are available as well as a play meadow for volleyball, beach volleyball, handball, and football. A mini-golf facility is located nearby and has direct access from the bathing lake. Opening hours: During the summer months from mid-May to mid-September, the bathing lake is open daily from 8:00 AM. Closing times are announced respectively.
