Water Quality

Water quality has been monitored by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) since 2011. Bacterial quality classifications are determined at the end of each bathing season. Fecal indicator monitoring has been conducted between 2016 and 2021. Potential pollution sources include agricultural runoff, non-collective sewage systems, storm water drainage, and boat mooring areas.

Risks

Susceptibility to green algae (ulva) blooms in summer. Jellyfish and Physalies can be present and wash ashore. Contamination risks associated with rainfall events affecting bacterial levels in the water.
