Poland Lake 1 - Excellent

Lake Średnie in Turawa is a large bathing beach located on the western shore of the lake. The water is suitable for bathing according to current quality assessments. WOPR lifeguards are stationed at the beach during operating hours. The lake contains submerged vegetation including spiked water-milfoil, which is ecologically beneficial, though this vegetation does not appear in the designated bathing area.

Water

Lake Średnie. Shoreline length: 80 metres. The lake contains an island of approximately 0.3 hectares covered with tree and shrub vegetation. The lake is also used for fishing.

Location

Turawa, Wędkarska, Opole Voivodeship, Opole County. The bathing area is on the western shore of Lake Średnie.

WOPR lifeguard (10:00–18:00 daily); playground; sports field; outdoor fitness equipment; pedestrian and bicycle path; water bicycle and kayak rental; public toilets; changing rooms; waste bins with waste segregation; water collection point; designated grilling/bonfire areas; children's bathing area; children's area on beach; informational board; WOPR flag mast; blue flag; designated water zone; dog ban in effect.

26 June 2025 – 1 September 2025. Operating hours: 10:00–18:00 daily (Monday–Thursday listed; hours apply throughout season).

Water Quality

Water suitable for bathing. 2025 classification: Excellent quality. 2024 classification: Excellent quality. 2023 classification: Excellent quality. 2022 classification: Excellent quality. Monitoring results from 2025 show E. coli levels of 15 jtk(NPL)/100 ml and Enterococci levels between 3–30 jtk(NPL)/100 ml, all within permissible limits. Maximum permissible concentrations: Escherichia coli 1000 jtk(NPL)/100 ml; Enterococci 400 jtk(NPL)/100 ml. A cyanobacteria bloom was recorded on 27 August 2021, resulting in a temporary closure.

Risks

Cyanobacteria bloom occurred on 27 August 2021. Spiked water-milfoil vegetation may occur on other parts of the lake but not in the designated bathing area.
