Kafizis is a sandy and pebbly beach in northern Paphos, Cyprus, with rocky outcrops and a maximum width of 15 metres. The beach is situated within the Natura 2000 protected area (Akamas Peninsula) and has a natural sandy seabed with numerous rocks, some visible at the surface. Access to the beach is relatively difficult, and it experiences a maximum of 300 daily swimmers.

Water

Coastal marine water body named North Paphos. Beach length is 220 metres. Average water depth is 2 metres with a maximum depth of 4.5 metres. The seabed is sandy with abundant rocks. The drainage basin is in hydrological basin 1 with mean elevation 465.1 metres and mean annual rainfall of 551 millimetres.

Location

Located in the Paphos district, within the municipality of Pegeia, in northern Paphos (coordinates: 32.3229°E, 34.8945°N). The beach is situated on a peninsula flanked by two rocky arms.

Facilities

Waste collection bins throughout the beach maintained by Pegeia municipality. During summer season, a lifeguard and rescue equipment are present.

Monitored since 2010. Summer monitoring period applies.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data since 2010. The coastal body is in good ecological status. Low risk of eutrophication from macroalgae and phytoplankton. No short-term pollution incidents recorded.

No risks identified. Short-term pollution risk is negligible. No marine sports activities occur at the beach.
