The beach can accommodate approximately 1,000 visitors at peak capacity during favorable weather conditions.

Nemunas River reservoir known as Kauno marių (Kaunas Lagoon), an artificial water body of Type 2 classification. Beach length: 150 m. Average annual precipitation in the basin: 551 mm. Average annual flow rate: 255 mm. Highest rainfall in October, lowest in September. Highest flow in January, lowest in September.

Location

Kaunas city, in the lower section of Kauno marių (Kaunas Lagoon) near the Kaunas hydroelectric power station. Coordinates: X=54.8754, Y=24.0147. The beach is part of Pažaislis forest park, with a hotel (Baltosios burės), yacht club, and marina nearby.

Facilities

2 bio-toilets, changing cabins, sand-surfaced sports courts (beach volleyball, football), children's playground, outdoor exercise equipment, recreational and active leisure zones. Bicycle path nearby. Pets prohibited on beach.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: good quality in 2024 (previously excellent in 2021, good in 2022-2023). Ecological potential rated as poor with risk classification. General phosphorus concentration does not meet good ecological status requirements, classified as diffuse pollution. Monitoring conducted annually in accordance with Directive 2006/7/EB since 2008.

Risks

Diffuse pollution from agricultural activities in surrounding territories (organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus compounds from livestock manure and mineral fertilizers). Kauno ornitological sanctuary established in 2002 nearby with concentrated wild waterfowl populations. Kauno marias is an artificial reservoir heavily impacted by human activity with imbalanced natural processes. No point source discharges identified.
