Svinkløv Strand and Klim Strand are two bathing beaches located in the southern part of Jammerbugt, approximately 2 km and 7 km west of Slette Strand respectively. The beaches are approximately 80–90 metres wide and consist of sand mixed with gravel and stones. Water quality has been classified as excellent based on E. coli and enterococci data from 2007–2017, reflecting consistently low bacterial concentrations.

Water

Coastal marine water in Jammerbugt. Salinity is 30–35 parts per thousand. Water temperature ranges from approximately 12°C to 20°C during the bathing season. The seabed consists of sand. Strong currents and surf occur on most days due to relatively great water depth close to the shore.

Location

Svinkløv Strand is accessed via Svinkløvvej with parking available along the road. Klim Strand is accessed via Klim Strandvej with a parking area for approximately 20 cars located above the beach. Klim Strand is also adjacent to Klim Camping, providing additional access from the campsite.

Official bathing season monitoring period established; water temperature typically suitable for bathing between approximately 12°C and 20°C.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent, the highest possible classification. Preliminary classification based on 2007–2017 data for E. coli and enterococci shows excellent quality for both beaches. Bacterial concentrations are generally low and remain below the threshold for satisfactory bathing water quality.

Risks

Risk of strong microalgal blooms during the bathing season, particularly Phaeocystis (April–July) causing foam and discoloration, and Noctiluca (July–August) causing orange-red discoloration and bioluminescence. Risk of large numbers of sea lice (stinging creatures) in the bathing season, particularly during offshore wind. Risk of occasional washed-up seaweed. Low risk of chemical pollution from oil spills. Blue-green algae do not occur due to high salinity.
