Petit Rocher is a bathing site located on the Beaume river at the border between the communes of Joyeuse and Rosières in southern Ardèche. The beach is on the right bank in the commune of Joyeuse, approximately 800 metres upstream from Joyeuse town. The bathing zone is formed by a water body created by a temporary dam installed annually by the Syndicat des Rivières Beaume et Drobie in partnership with the commune. The site is situated within the Natura 2000 site B26 and a sensitive natural area.

Water

The Beaume river forms a water body with a maximum surface area of 5,000 square metres. The maximum depth does not exceed 1.50 metres. Width is approximately 50 metres and length is approximately 100 metres. A temporary dam of maximum height 2 metres and approximately 30 metres length and 10 metres width is installed annually. The water body has very good transparency. The riverbed consists primarily of fine sediments including sand, silts and some gravel, with coarser materials such as pebbles in the upstream sections.
