La Govelle is a bathing beach located in Batz-sur-Mer, a small commune on the Presqu'île du Croisic in Loire-Atlantique, France. The beach is situated on the southern coast facing the Atlantic Ocean, bordered by the 'wild coast' and characterised by dune systems. The site experiences strong seasonal tourism, with 10,000 to 20,000 additional visitors during the summer season. Water quality has remained excellent and stable for over 10 years.

Atlantic Ocean bathing beach. The site is characterised by a rocky coastline with dune systems and tidal characteristics influenced by oceanic and meteorological conditions.

Location

Batz-sur-Mer, Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire region, France. The beach is located on the southern coast of the commune, bordered by the Govelle and Grand'Vallée dune systems.

Facilities

Lifeguard surveillance provided from 13:30 to 19:00 during the monitoring season.

Season

Official opening period: 15 June to 15 September. Monitoring period: 1 July to 31 August.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as 'Excellente' (Excellent) under Directive 2006/7/CE for all monitoring periods from 2004-2010. Classification 10A under previous Directive 76/160/CEE (2007-2010). No short-term pollution episodes have been observed in over 10 years. Non-compliant wastewater systems are present at approximately 400 m distance with weak to moderate impact on bathing water quality.
